Welcome to Toyland!

It’s that wonderful time of year for gift giving!! It can be stressful running around to stores and possibly getting trampled to find the right present.

Who can forget the horrible Cabbage Patch Kid Riots of 1983? People were fist fighting, kicking and trampling each other just to get one.

Or the Tickle Me Elmo from 1996? Oh man, no one was giggling when they were clawing and scratching to get that red, furry, and (kind of creepy) vibrating stuffed animal!

Why risk your physical well being and sanity when you just shop at https://www.gordonelectricsupply.com/? In the electrical world there are all kinds of toys that are cool to give—and receive! Here are few cools things you can find!

From Klein Tools is the 55421BP-14 Tradesman Pro™ Backpack

  • 39 pockets for tons of tool storage
  • Hard, molded front pocket protects safety glasses
  • Front zipper pocket for small parts and tools
  • Taller bag and interior pockets allow for long screwdrivers

From Ideal Industries is the Large Mouth Bag Tool Kit, 18”, 16-Piece

So have a great Holiday Season, and if you do hit the brick and mortar stores …Stay Safe!!!

You will have a magnetic personality!

It’s always the same problem, you’re up on a ladder, trying to hang a light or a ceiling fan and the screws they provide are always so small, that if you don’t use a magnetic tipped screw driver it is impossible to keep from dropping the screw. This can cause a lot of trips up and down a ladder, and if you lose the screw, forget it. You will of course find it, a week later when you are walking through your living room barefoot and it goes right into the bottom of your tootsie! This could cause an infection, gangrene and death!

To avoid all of this, wouldn’t be cool if you could magnetize all your screwdrivers?

Well now you can the Klein MAG2!

  • Magnetizes and demagnetizes screwdriver tips and bits using powerful rare-earth magnets
  • Single swipe operation provides immediate magnetization and demagnetization
  • Fits most screwdrivers including precision screwdrivers, 1/4 Slotted, #2 Phillips and #3 Phillips
  • Attaches to tool bags or backpacks with the included stainless-steel key ring
  • No batteries required
  • Made in USA with global components

To magnetize: insert screwdriver fully into magnetizing slot; avoid rotating the shaft while drawing out slowly.

To demagnetize: insert screwdriver fully into demagnetizing slot; avoid rotating the shaft while drawing out slowly.

You might think it’s just another flash light, but this one is pretty sweet.

These days there are tons of LED flash lights out there!  Every size and shape imaginable.

Klein has come out with a new Penlight that is really cool. This is great for up-close inspection. It also has a glow in the dark tip, (I LOVE anything that glows in the dark). I think the coolest thing about it though, is that it has a laser pointer! Most people will use it to point out conduits, wires and other important things. Myself, well, I have a huge in door cat! I use it make him run from one end of the house to the other to hopefully drop some weight. (The flash light comes in handy to look under the couch for cat toys).

The new Klein Inspection Penlight uniquely features a laser that can be used to pinpoint hard-to-reach places, which is ideal for communicating with foreman, inspectors, colleagues, etc. Helping to reduce, or even eliminate, mistakes is what makes the Inspection Penlight with Laser a job site necessity.

  • LED penlight for up-close lighting in dim areas
  • Laser pointer pinpoints objects or features that are out of reach
  • Glow ring tip charges while the light is on and allows for easy retrieval in the dark
  • Pocket clip for easy, convenient storage
  • Aluminum body with cushion-grip handle

Music lover’s problem, chewing food to the beat of a song.

6005423I do a lot of home projects, and I love to listen to music while I work. In my house it’s easy. I just turn up the surround sound loud enough to hear it in every room. The only problem is, so can my neighbors! Although I did see an older coupling walk past my house bobbing their heads to “LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!”

So, I started just using my phone. Taking it from room to room. Not the best quality and it reminds me of the old transistor radios we carried around as kids. Ear buds, as it turns out, were not the answer. I got the cord wrapped around a drill bit and tore them right out of my ears.

Then I found this!

The Klein Wireless Job Site Speaker.

  • Connects wirelessly via Bluetooth* or a wired auxiliary input
  • 8 ft (10 m) connectivity range (in open space)
  • 10-Hour battery life
  • Drop protected up to 6.6 ft (2 m)
  • Powerful rear magnet holds speaker to metal surfaces (panels, ducts, etc.)
  • Twist-lock flange mounts to Klein’s Lighted Tool Bag (Cat. No. 55431)
  • 1/4-20 threaded mount on bottom allows attachment to any standard tripod
  • Rated IP45 waterproof/dustproof
  • Able to answer calls hands-free with the built-in speakerphone
  • Includes 1/8” (3.5 mm) stereo auxiliary cable and micro USB-to-standard USB charging cable

FYI : Even though you can connect the speaker to the Tool Bag full of tools, I don’t advise trying to hold it up to your ear while dancing like we did with boom boxes in the old days!

What happens in a black hole, stays in a black hole!

Holes! In the electrical industry they are very important. We put pipe in them, stick wires through them, and even install lighting in them.

Today we are lucky, we have all kinds of fun tools to make them with! In the old days, holes were made with manual drills that you would have to crank by hand. This could take days, but your arms would at least look great!

So, it’s so cool that Klein has so many great options for making holes.

Everything from the Carbide-Tipped cutters that go from ½” – 2” pipe sizes, an adjustable hole saw to cut in can lights, and these really neat Ship-Auger Bits that will go through nails, wood, vinyl plastic and heavy timber. (They would also be great in a horror movie.)

What do you get if you cross a glow worm with a python? A 15 foot strip light that can strangle you to death!

hiviz_driver_0Ever since I was a kid, I have loved anything that glows in the dark. My sister and I used to love to play, “The Barnabas Collins Dark Shadows Game!” Your goal? Be the first person to assemble a full skeleton. You draw a bone or stake from the coffin each turn, though you’re going to want to avoid the stakes. Oh, and the skeleton glows in the dark. “If you win, the curse of the vampire is yours!” Yes, we had a strange Mother who loved horror movies and to scare us to death whenever she could.

Another great pass time was catching lightning bugs……..and then smearing the tails on our arms, running around the yard in the dark until the lightning bug goo quit glowing.

So it is very cool that Klein tools has come out with a line of screw drivers that have handles that glow in the dark!

The Hi-Viz Drivers.

My non-contact meter can beat your non-contact meter!

These things have been around for years! You always see electricians with them in their front pocket along with two pens, a sharpie, one stick of gum, and the case for their safety glasses. Then there is always the battle over who has the best one. You will hear things like, “I’ve dropped this thing from 20 feet and it still works….. sometimes.” or “Well I dropped mine in a vat of toxic chemicals and now it really glows…… sometimes.”
When it comes to an electrical tester, you really don’t want it to work “sometimes.”
Klein Tools have designed a non-contact voltage tester that is almost indestructible! It is shock, water, and dust resistant and even has a built-in LED flashlight.

ncvt3-app-shot
The Klein NCVT-3
The NCVT-3 provides non-contact detection of AC voltage in cables, cords, circuit breakers, light fixtures, switches, outlets and wires as well as doorbells, thermostats, low voltage lighting and irrigation systems.

ncvt3-chart.jpg
• Convenient LED flashlight may be used independent of voltage detection function
• The visual indicator of the presence of voltage is an LED bar graph – the higher the voltage sensed, or the closer to the voltage source, the more LEDs light up
• Bar graph visual voltage indicator utilizes five vibrant LEDs for easy interpretation/viewing
• The audible voltage indicator beeps at a greater frequency the higher the voltage that is sensed, or the closer it gets to the voltage source
• “Auto Power-Off” conserves and extends battery life
• Screw-thread battery cap with O-ring ensures dust-proof and waterproof ingress protection
• Lightweight, compact tool with pocket clip provides easy storage and quick access

“I put gloves on before I put gloves on, so I don’t get my gloves dirty.”

Klein GlovesJanuary in the Midwest! Snow is on the ground, the air is crisp, trees glisten and your hands are frozen to a piece of conduit!
Let’s face it, most of the work we do is with our hands. From pulling wire to hanging fixtures, working outdoors can be rough without gloves. But, you have to have the right gloves for the job. Klein Tools makes a large selection of excellent gloves to handle just about any job.

If you’re on a wire pull that requires pulling lube, the Klein 40002 Heavyweight Jersey Gloves will be great selection. With these gloves, once you’re covered in wire lube, you can take them off, wash them or toss them. For the price, you can’t beat it.
Dig this, if you are working incognito, the Klein 40208 Camouflage Gloves are the thing you need. Never know when you will need the hide from a deer on the job site.

But personally, the ones I like the best are the Klein 40058 Framer Gloves. The first 2 fingers are cut off at the knuckles, making it easier to make wire connections! Myself, I’d be giving wet willies like crazy!

So check out all the Klein Gloves, I’m sure there is a pair that is right for you!
