Project Raise the Roof on the New Mokena Building
A month ago, Gordon hosted a Grand Opening celebration for our new building in Mokena, IL. We shared some of the photos and memories of the evening in a previous blog post. Customers, vendors, and guests were invited on June 15 to the facility for the celebration. Guests toured the new building and enjoyed an evening of great food and music. The building tour included a display of Gordon’s seventy years of reliability as an electrical wholesaler with displayed items dating back to its founding in 1953.
The road to get to the new 54,781 sq. ft. building began in 2021 with construction starting in the spring of 2022. The facility is 41,781 sq. ft. larger than the previous Mokena building, and it allows the Gordon Mokena team to better serve customers with a higher capacity for inventory and continue providing quality services daily.
We documented the construction through its completion in 2023 through our video project, Raise the Roof. In the 16 videos, we interviewed the partners and people who helped make the new building possible. When you view the videos in the playlist, you hear from the Mayor of Mokena, AMTI Precast, Ruder Electric’s work on the electrical system of the building, Rieke Furniture’s quality custom furniture, and all the great companies involved with Project Raise the Roof.
You’ll even see some familiar names in Project Raise the Roof, but this time Legrand, KSA Lighting, Schneider Electric, and Archibald & Meek are sharing how their products shaped the lighting, receptacles, controls, and electrical system at the new Mokena building.
We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we have and thank you to all our partners for taking the time to speak with us throughout Project Raise the Roof.
