In April 2021, Leviton announced their new five-year partnership with the electrical training ALLIANCE (etA) that will include training kits, funding, instruction, and technical expertise to achieve the shared goal of shaping our nation’s electrical workforce into the most advanced and best trained in the world.
The partnership will provide a variety of resources from Leviton focusing on a mixture of learning tools to which all etA training centers will have access to the variety of digital and hands-on instruction. As stated in the press release from Leviton, specific programs in the partnership include:
“Wiring device endowments and training kits for regional etA chapters known as Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATC’s). Each kit demonstrates features and installation requirements.
Factory technical support provided at the local level to regional JATC’s.
Support to etA’s National Training Institute (NTI) help annually at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
$5000 Scholarship grant to a deserving NTI Graduate as part of the etA’s Advanced Studies Program.
Financial support of NTI logistics and operations.
Site use at Leviton Live Experience Centers for etA personnel. Access offers the opportunity f or etA to conduct regional meetings as well as experiential learnings with cutting-edge electrical equipment installed in real-world applications.”
Every year, Electrical Construction & Maintenance magazine hosts a competition for the top product of the year where readers can vote for the winner; voting ends on June 28th. This year there are 32 nominations with some familiar companies and products that make it difficult to choose only one Product of the Year.
We want to share congratulations to all of our partners who were nominated. Thank you for your innovation and hard work!
When I think of it, I always remember the Jetsons! George would fly up on in his car, he would be greeted by his wife Jane, and she would just press some buttons and there was dinner! Everything was automatic. (Interesting fact, on the show George was 40 years old, Jane was 33, their oldest daughter was 16. Well, you do the math.)
But then in 1999 there was a movie called The Smart House (cool title). It told the story of a smart house taking over. Not just spying through the microwave, but terrorizing the family!
So, I’m torn…………….
The problem is that most of us live in a “NOT SMART” house. If you are building a new house, it is easy to plan and run tons of cables. If you live in an older home, then this is a major job. Until now!
Leviton has a very simple way of controlling the lights and devices in your home. The Decora Smart with Wi-Fi Technology family of products feature five devices including in-wall dimmers, a switch, and plug-in modules for appliances and lamps, supporting a wide range of load types including LED and incandescent with multi-way capability.
REMOTE ACCESS FROM ANYWHERE, NO HUB REQUIRED!
Control connected loads and lights using the free My Leviton app for iOS and Android, no hub required. Simplify control of the residence – schedule lights and connected loads to turn on/off at specific times or based on sunrise/sunset, easily group smart devices into rooms, and create scenes to activate multiple lights at once.
Use the free “My Leviton” app for iOS and Android devices to easily add new devices to your home. Create schedules like “Good Morning” to activate appropriate lighting at preset times. For instance, at 6:30AM every Monday through Friday, turn the bedroom lights to 25% and master bath lights to 50%. As well, Activities can be created so that you can manually set the lighting for “Movie Time” from the app as you begin your movie.
VOICE CONTROL VIA AMAZON ALEXA AND GOOGLE
simply tell your favorite voice assistant from Google or Amazon to adjust the lights or plug-in loads whenever you need that helping hand. Compatible with all products that support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant providing voice control of the load: “Alexa, dim living room lights to 25%” or “Ok Google, Turn Chandelier to 10%”. Use your imagination and have fun controlling every light and load in your home.
